Law Enforcement Trainings Offered by Texas Center for the Missing
Missing Child Case Management: Investigator and First Responder Training
TCM provides Law Enforcement officers with information and instruction on model policies and procedures for working missing persons cases, regional and state alert systems (Amber Alert, Silver Alert, etc.), and covers best practices in investigating a missing persons case including reviews of actual case studies. TCOLE credits provided.
Amber Alert Issuance Training
TCM trains Law Enforcement officers on how to activate the Houston Regional Amber Alert System. We also provide information on best practices for a missing child investigation, Amber Alert history and criteria, case studies, and how to issue an Amber Alert statewide. All trainees will receive a flashdrive with reference documents from the training. TCOLE credits provided.
Silver Alert Issuance Training
Coming Soon! As we implement the Houston Regional Silver Alert System Pilot Program in 2015, we will begin providing training geared toward the investigation of endangered missing elderly cases and how to issue regional and statewide Silver Alerts.
Southeast Texas Child Abduction Response Team (SETCART) Resource List
The SETCART Resource List is a comprehensive directory of resources available to law enforcement partners in TCM’s 14-County primary service area. These resources are available for deployment of personnel and assets from multiple jurisdictions and agencies to assist with the highest risk child abduction and endangered adult cases in our region. By providing extensive investigative and search resources to outlying areas that otherwise would not have access to these life-saving tools (e.g., additional investigators, dive teams, search dogs, mantrackers, sonar boats, etc.), the SETCART Resource List can reduce duplication of services, improve response times, and potentially save lives.
Internet Safety Train-the-Trainer
TCM trains educators, police officers, social workers, and other non-profit partners on how to administer Interactive Internet Safety Training to children and caring adults in their community. The multi-media presentations have three age-appropriate formats geared toward parents/adult caregivers, 6th-12th graders, and elementary-aged children and are based on the NetSmartz Program. All trainees receive a binder and flashdrive of all presentation documents. TCOLE credits provided.
Our trainings are available to agencies within the 14 counties of the Houston-Galveston region, including Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, and Wharton counties. If you are an agency outside of our region, we are still happy to offer resource support, Amber Alert reissuance, and information referral. You may request a training or additional resource via the form below.
Learn about additional trainings we offer to non-law enforcement community leaders on our Trainings page. We also offer safety presentations to children, parents, and other community members as listed on our Presentations page.
